About Heartland Woodcraft

Made by hand. Made in Nebraska.

Heartland Woodcraft started the way most good things do — with a love for the craft and a pile of wood in the shop.

I'm Justin, an engineer by trade and a woodworker by passion. What began as a weekend hobby turned into something I couldn't stop making — cutting boards, kitchen tools, flags, and home décor that people actually want to display and keep. Every piece is built in Seward, Nebraska from premium hardwoods like cherry, maple, and walnut, finished by hand, and made to last decades.

Engineering taught me to care about how things work. Woodworking taught me to care about how things feel. Heartland Woodcraft is where those two things meet — functional pieces built with real precision and real craftsmanship, not mass-produced and not rushed.

When you buy from Heartland Woodcraft, you're not getting something off a shelf. You're getting something I cut, shaped, sanded, and finished myself — something built to be used, displayed, and handed down.

The wood matters.

I work almost exclusively with domestic hardwoods — American elm, cherry, maple, and walnut — because they're beautiful, durable, and grown right here in the heartland. When I do reach for exotics like sapele or wenge, it's because the project calls for something with a little more drama. Every species is chosen intentionally, and every board is finished with food-safe oils and waxes that protect the wood and let the grain speak for itself.
